ecrime unit funding agreed

May 29th, 2008 · No Comments

As many will know, The Corporate IT Forum has long called for the return of a central policing body to investigate cases of corporate electronic crime.

We know that many members regret the passing of the National High Tech Crime Unit and desperately need a central route to report cases of ecrime.

Whilst we can’t entirely take the credit, it seems like at last the Home Office has finally decided to listen to corporate demands and invest £50m in a central unit.

Good news indeed. Whilst it’s early days, this new initiative appears a very positive step in the right direction and something to applaud.

However, we would stress the urgency of pushing forward with the initiative as soon as possible and that any such central policing unit must be well resourced and well staffed by people trained to understand the sophisticated nature of global electronic crime.
