Interesting to see that the issue of email overload remains an issue causing Corporate IT Forum members pain. A perennial problem that’s been around for as long as email itself. However, could social media finally offer the killer solution? Many would agree that subscribing to feeds via RSS instead of via email - something that you’re now able to do with tif.’s own alerts by the way - can drastically cut the volume of emails received. Furthermore, it seems that some companies in the US are using Instant Messaging and social media tools such as blogging and microblogging utilities such as Twitter to allow staff to take conversations away from email - again relieving some pressure on overcrowded inboxes.
We’d be interested to hear whether any Forum members are considering social media as a solution to email overload or as part of an email reduction strategy.
