Continuous Performance Improvement - From Strength to Strength

The Corporate IT Forum (tif.), out of which the CPI service grew, was initiated in 1996 by some of the largest corporate users of IT creating a confidential, vendor-free environment in which IT professionals could exchange practical and strategic intelligence.  The clear business benefits of participating in tif. attracted an increasing number of organisations and now exceeds 150 large corporate businesses with over 3700 registered contacts.

Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI Enterprise) benchmarking was established by a group of organisations within tif. in 2001.  It had become obvious that tif. subscribers were less than satisfied with existing forms of benchmarking.  They requested an alternative benchmarking service that was more cost effective, less resource dependent and offered more control over the process.

Continuous Performance Improvement was developed to fully meet those requirements.  It provides a real and complementary alternative to traditional benchmarking, and exploits the strengths of  The Corporate IT Forum.

The benchmarking process is owned and executed by participants and provides high levels of flexibility at a very reasonable cost.  Its strength lies in allowing detailed interrogation of the results, plus a focus on continuous improvement through facilitated discussion with best performing peers.

The most recent development of CPI came as the importance of benchmarking outsourced service contracts was recognised by a group of subscribers to the original CPI Enterprise service.  They outlined deliverables for a CPI service for Outsourced IT, and funded a pilot project to apply the proven CPI Enterprise techniques to the outsourced environment.

The pilot proved a resounding success leading to the successful launch of the CPI Outsourced Service (CPI OS) in 2007.
