The key theme in today’s business and IT organisations is the generation and delivery of value. IT Value is a complex concept, with the various threads of low cost, agility, service delivery, functionality and communication closely interwoven. Absolutely key to the delivery of value is understanding and then meeting the relative importance of the components of value in a balanced approach – and then adjusting those, in a timely fashion, as sentiment changes in the business.  This is among the most difficult challenges in IT, the achievement of which tif. aims to recognise by this award

Award Criteria

The judges will be looking for:

  • The submission which demonstrates the greatest improvement in the business perception of IT value through one or a combination of:
    •  creating processes for determining the components of value which are important to the business and then meeting them consistently;
    • delivery of IT project(s) which greatly improved the IT value to the business through innovation, service delivery, functionality or agility;
    • delivery of IT projects with a demonstrable full realisation of proposed benefits and/or a high return on investment
  •  In the context of the organisation’s size, the overall improvement in IT value delivery and how it was achieved, with particular emphasis on longer term sustainable change.

  1. Business turnover or Public sector annual budget
  2. Number of employees
  3. Annual IT spend
  4. Project elapsed time, Man days effort, and Project Management days effort

Award Information

  1. Describe the vision and objectives for the project.
  2. Describe and provide evidence of the tangible benefits and value delivered (See rule 2).
  3. Describe the intangible (soft) benefits and value delivered.
  4. Describe the business perception of IT Value delivery that existed before the project.
  5. Describe any value delivery related processes that were implemented during the project and their effect.
  6. Describe how sustainable the IT value improvements made and / or process improvements made will be and any further techniques employed to promote this.
  7. Describe the business perception of IT value after the project (with attributed quotes where possible).
  8. Why should this project win this award?
